Just like what I have said from one of my previous posts, what we mostly did in Cebu was to eat! And one of the places that we went to was Chika-an sa Cebu which means kainan sa Cebu, or a place where people eat in Cebu. Chika-an is a restaurant founded in Cebu and can only be found in Cebu and Davao. And like me, my brother loves trying new foods which are only found in a certain place and Chika-an rightfully fell on that category. :)
What we like about this place is that the space for the table and chairs were not limited and in fact the restaurant is quite big for it to be inside a mall! One thing that we also liked about this place is that the foods are cheap or it's just right - not too cheap and not too expensive. The foods we ordered were also great! Notice their logo, and you will see that it copies the body or figure of a fish. (It took me x times of looking at it before I realized this one) :D I was also happy that time, because the people who were with me, let me took pictures of the foods first before touching them (even if they were really very hungry)
First up, we had Sizzling Spicy Talong (eggplant) with Ground Pork (Php 115) which was one of the best of the bunch.
Next was the baked scallop which was so-so. My brother and I both thought that there was too much cheese in it that made it salty and strong. We were really after the right taste that we usually find in other restaurants. But it was only for Php 128! :)
For our soup, we ordered their Utan Bisaya Soup (Php 99) which was great when it was still hot! :") I think it is a vegetable soup that has okra, talong, malunggay, dahon ng sili, bell peppers, tomato, pumpkin, and other vegetables. Again, best experienced while hot! :)
We also ordered Crab Relleno (Php 120) which is minced crab meat, mixed with other stuff and is then stuffed back to the crab's shell and is baked! My brother didn't like this very much, but I did! It was crunch (the top part) then chewy in the end (crab's meat)! :) Now this was also one of the things I loved! :D
Another plus for Chika-an is that they have bottomless rice! (or unlimited rice) All you had to do is to order a cup of rice (@Php 32) per person and the rest just keeps on coming! :)) I became so full when I ate here because all of the things that we ordered were best enjoyed with rice!!! T.T
For dessert, we ordered Biko with Latik and Frozen Brazo which were all GREAT and refreshing! :) Frozen Brazo was a dessert that had biscuit crackers at its bottom, vanilla ice cream for its filling and on top is a dollop of custard and brazo's orginal soft cake! Yum! :))
Other must-try's from this resto are their Rellenong Manok, Banana and Langka Turon with Latik, Pinipig Delight, and Grilled Chorizo de Cebu!!! :D
