Yummy Eats 2012

Almost a week since me and my friends went to yummy eats and had a great gastronomic experience! ^.^  Last year's YummyEats was great but I was alone then and this year was way better since I had great company with my friends. I sure did had a lot of fun trying out what's new and great in the metro. There surely were a lot of new great finds and old loves that I am still crazy about. So just to make this post real short and quick, I'm just gonna point out my Top 8 picks, out of the 50 concessionaires present last Saturday.

The concept of this booth was really great because they were really able to maximize their space and this is the first time that I ever had the chance to design a cupcake and it was definitely fun! :) If I am not mistaken, they offer packages to do the same thing for parties! :) It makes me wish that I can be young again and hold my own party! :) Lastly, they cater to making special cakes the way you want it to be.

colorful and wonderful booth
Cupcake me and Angellyn made!!
Cupcakes me, angellyn, anne and belle designed!

Don't react just yet cause GF here is not your typical girlfriend but their great tasting Garlic Fries! :) Even though it seems to be a usual thing but believe me when I say that it's not. Simply not! They offered their GFs with the white stuff which we think are mayo, sour cream, and a bit more garlicky flavor; which we think makes all the great difference. It was really good and satisfying. So far, they only have a branch in Alabang but sooner or later, they will be having a branch in San Juan area. ^.^

sorry for a bad shot but this was all I had :/
 #3 Mochiko
Nothing beats a great ice cream wrapped with super cold and thin mochi! :) Mochiko has been a fave of people ever since they came and base on what we have tasted during Yummy Eats, they are really here to stay for good! :) They sampled their oreo and milk mochis which will only be able next month and I seriously liked their milk tea mochis because it is not too sweet and has more of the Hong Kong milk tea taste. Having a bite of these mochis are really refreshing and great! ^.^ They also had free button pins which were totally cute!

<3

not one, but TWO! ^.^
 #4 Pepita's Lechon
The idea of having rice filled lechon is not only fantastic but aslo tastes really good! Crispy lechon skin and mouthful of great-tasting rice! What more could you ask for???

yum!
 #5 Pinkerton Ice Cream
Pinkerton Ice Cream was definitely a love at first bite or whichever way you eat your ice cream or sorbet. Their guava with basil sorbet was a real love. It was very refreshing and definitely cleansed out palette after eating other great savory foods. I never thought that guava basil would be a great pair but they sure were and I will definitely make it possible to also let my parents try a different take in sorbet! ^.^

their wide varieties!
#7 Mochibuns
According to their flyer, Mochibuns are Korea and Taiwan's famous mochi bread which is now available here in the Philippines. I never knew how to describe how I want my bread to be like but now I do. I like my bread just like Mochibuns. Even though I think that this won't suit the older generation, I just simply loved their black sesame mochibuns and their pepita and sunflower seeds as well! ^.^ So chewy, tasty and good!

#7 J. Co Donuts
They alwasys say that service and food goes hand in hand and I really believe it. It could be as simple as a donut plus heartwarming service crew that really made J.Co Donuts stand out! I love the idea that they were really nice and their donut had a big surprsie inside which made me.. well.. surprsied! haha. I also tried their Thai Iced Tea which was also good and was something new and different with the usual milk tea I take. ^.^

Last thing me and my friends liked was Simply Pie! I fell in love with it last year and was the only I bought back home and just everything about it was really good and satisfying. Savory. Flavorful. Light. simply Delicious. This time around, I wasn't able to take photos of their picture but we did got one great group shot. ^.^

Big smiles for Simply Pie!

Yummy Eats never fails to surprise us with great food from everywhere in the Metro! Looking forward to everything Yummy next year! ^.^

Solar Eclipse

My dad told my mom to wake me up to witness the solar eclipse that happened around 6AM. As of what I can recall, my mom said that the sun is half already and I was shocked :)))) Anyways, I tried to take some clear good shots of it using my own digital camera and with the help of an x-ray result! ^.^

I have used my maximum optical zoom so every shot was very much pixelated. T.T

According to Mr.Wiki,  a solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and the Earth, and the Moon fully or partially blocks the Sun. This can happen only during a new moon, when the Sun and the Moon are in conjunction as seen from Earth. In a total eclipse, the disk of the Sun is fully obscured by the Moon. In partial and annular eclipses only part of the Sun is obscured.

What happened this morning was a partial eclipse and that there will be a total eclipse (of my heart?) on November 13 this year and another partial one on May 10, 2013. ^.^

Easy Fried Sweet Potato

I just wanted to share what I had for snack this afternoon, because I like or love the photos I took of it. All you need are sweet potato, some cornstarch, and a few salty plum powder, and oil for deep frying.

So here is what you have to do... Peel the sweet potatoes. Chop it into bite-size pieces (mine were a bit too thin). Dredge the pieces with cornstarch and deep fry it until golden brown. Sprinkle with Salty Plum Powder and enjoy! ^.^ It is best finished while its warm.

You can actually try this even without the powder and just enjoy it as a simple snack. One of  that things I observed was that the sweet potato doesn't really absorb too much oil that will make it soggy and unhealthy. But above all, I just really liked the pictures. ^.^  Also, I don't think you'll have any problems looking for sweet potato because they are plentiful this time around and are mostly sweet.

And for my last picture, here is the cake we gave our mom last Sunday from Hizon's (the best classic cake!). Whenever I eat a Hizon's cake, I feel like I'm eating Buddy of Cake Boss' cake! ^.^

9 days to go before YummyEats2012! ^.^

Afternoon Snack @ CBTL

After watching "The Avengers" (which is a great movie!), Jeannine and I wanted to give Abi a belated birthday cake and for some reasons, we ended up going having a small afternoon celebration at Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf @ Trinoma.. We had cakeS and drinks plus Monopoly Deal (one of the most addicting game ever!) ...

I brought me some props like the "happy birthday" sign and some candles which we weren't allowed to use inside the coffee shop... (boo-hoo)

Tiramisu
And the cakes we had were, Tiramisu, Guiltless Chocolate Cake and New York Cheesecake! We all loved the Guiltless Chocolate Cake. Sadly, the New York Cheesecake and Tiramisu wasn't what we really wanted.
